Provide proof of English proficiency where required. Undergraduate applicants who do not meet it are admitted conditionally and enrol in the English for Academic Purposes programme in their first semester.

04

Receive and accept your offer

Offers are issued by email. Applicants activate their CUD portal account using the credentials in the offer letter and accept the offer through the portal. Graduate applicants are contacted within three to four working days of review to be advised of next steps.

Entry requirements by level

Undergraduate
Academic

A recognised High School Certificate. UAE applicants must have completed Grade 12 with passing grades in all subjects. Certificates issued outside the UAE are assessed under UAE Ministry of Education regulations: the certificate must be valid for admission to a public university in its country of issue, must follow at least 12 years of schooling with passes in all subjects, and must be the highest level of school qualification awarded in that country where several exist. British-curriculum applicants must have completed Year 13 (Grade 12). Certificates must be attested by the education authority in the country of origin, that country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Embassy, and require an equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education.

English

A minimum of 80% in the Grade 12 English subject, or an equivalent score of IELTS Academic 5.0, TOEFL iBT 61 or TOEFL ITP 500, for applicants from UAE Ministry of Education curricula (Advanced Track). Applicants from non-UAE curricula taught in English must provide official proof that English was the medium of instruction. Applicants from curricula delivered in another language must provide a valid English proficiency certificate of at least IELTS Academic 5.0, TOEFL iBT 61 or TOEFL ITP 500, or an equivalent test approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.

Notes

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement must enrol in the University's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme in their first semester. Placement into one of the three EAP levels is set by the applicant's IELTS score or by the University's English Language Placement Test. While enrolled in EAP, students may register for General Education courses up to a cap of 12 credit hours until the English requirement is met.

Postgraduate
Academic

Completion of a recognised bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the master's programme, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent. A Higher Diploma is not equivalent to a bachelor's degree and does not qualify an applicant for admission to a master's programme.

English

A valid English language proficiency certificate showing IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79 or TOEFL ITP 550, or an equivalent internationally recognised test approved by the UAE Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.

Notes

Students who completed their undergraduate education at an English-medium institution may be admitted without demonstrating a TOEFL score of 550 or equivalent. Admission to a particular programme does not imply automatic admission to any other programme. Pre-MBA study is determined at interview; Pre-MITM is a requirement of the Master in Information Technology Management programme.

Doctoral
Academic

A recognised master's degree in a relevant discipline, with a minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. Postgraduate diplomas are not accepted for entry to the Doctor of Business Administration.

English

IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, TOEFL ITP or PBT 550, or TOEFL CBT 213, or an equivalent standardised English test approved by the Commission for Academic Accreditation.

Notes

Home Edition TOEFL and IELTS Academic UKVI or Online examinations are not accepted for admission to CUD. Applicants who completed both undergraduate and graduate study at an English-medium institution may be exempt from providing an English proficiency certificate.
