Do I need an account to browse institutions?

No. You can browse, search, and compare institutions without creating an account. An account is only needed when you want to save favourites or write reviews. Sending an enquiry does not need one.

How do I set my preferences?

After creating an account, go to your profile settings where you can set your preferred emirate, curriculum type, budget range, and other filters. Talem will use these to personalize your recommendations.

What types of institutions are listed on Talem?

Talem lists nurseries, kindergartens, schools (primary and secondary), and universities across the UAE, with schools in all seven Emirates. Each institution type has its own dedicated search filters tailored to help you find the right fit.

How does Talem verify institution information?

We source data from official inspection bodies such as KHDA (Dubai) and ADEK (Abu Dhabi), as well as directly from institutions. Fee structures, KHDA ratings, and inspection indicators are updated regularly to ensure accuracy.

How do I search for a specific school?

Use the search bar on the homepage or the search page. You can type the school name, curriculum, or location. Use the filter panel to narrow results by emirate, tuition range, gender policy, and more.

How does the comparison tool work?

Go to the Compare page from the header navigation. Select up to four institutions of the same type and click Compare Now. You will see a detailed side-by-side table covering curriculum, fees, facilities, ratings, and more.

Ratings are based on verified reviews from parents and students. They are scored from 1 to 5 stars. Inspection ratings (such as KHDA ratings) are shown separately and come directly from official sources.

Yes. The filter panel adapts based on the institution type you select. For schools, you can filter by British, American, IB, Indian CBSE, French, SABIS, and more. For nurseries, you can filter by EYFS, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and other early years frameworks.

Use the Emirate filter to narrow results to your area. Each institution profile shows its full address and location on a map, helping you assess proximity to your home. A filter for city areas is coming soon.

What are KHDA ratings and how should I interpret them?

KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) inspects Dubai schools annually and rates them as Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable, or Weak. Each institution profile on Talem shows the overall rating plus detailed performance indicators across subjects and school operations.

Can I compare a school with a nursery?

No. The comparison tool only allows you to compare institutions of the same type. If you select a school first, only other schools will appear in the search. This ensures meaningful side-by-side comparisons.

How do I find the fee structure for a school?

Every institution profile has a dedicated Fees section showing the full grade-by-grade fee breakdown, any discounts available, payment terms, and additional costs such as transport, uniforms, and registration fees.

How do I enquire about an institution through Talem?

Open the institution's profile and use the Enquire button. Tell us the year group and academic year you are asking about, and the Talem team comes back to you and passes your details to the school's admissions office. Talem is not an application portal: the formal application is made with the school itself.

Can I enquire about more than one institution at a time?

Yes, as many as you like. Each enquiry is sent separately and carries the institution and year group you asked about, so nothing gets mixed up. You do not need an account to send one.

How will I know my enquiry has been received?

You see a confirmation as soon as you send it, and the Talem team replies by email. Where we have passed the enquiry to a school, we tell you what its admissions team comes back with.

What documents do I typically need for a school application?

You apply directly to the school, and requirements vary, but most UAE schools ask for the student's passport copy, Emirates ID, previous school reports, a transfer certificate where applicable, passport photos and immunisation records. Where a school publishes its own list, it is shown on its Talem profile.

Can I change or cancel an enquiry after sending it?

Yes. Reply to the confirmation email or use the contact form and we will update or drop it. Anything you have already submitted to a school directly is subject to that school's own policy.

How long does it take for an institution to respond?

It varies. Most schools reply within one to two weeks during the main admissions season, and more slowly outside it. Talem follows up on the enquiries it passes on and tells you what comes back.

Our team creates initial profiles using verified data from official inspection bodies (KHDA, ADEK) and the institution's own published information. Institutions can then claim and enhance their profiles with additional details, photos, and updates.

How do I change my email or password?

Yes. You can delete your account directly from the My Profile section in your dashboard, or contact us at info@talem.ae to request account deletion. We will process your request and remove all personal data within 30 days in accordance with UAE data protection standards.

Visit any institution's profile page and scroll to the Reviews section. Click "Write a Review," rate the institution from 1 to 5 stars, and share your experience. Reviews must follow our community guidelines.

Yes. In your account settings, you can opt in to email notifications for new institution listings, fee updates, admissions deadlines, and other relevant alerts based on your preferences. You will also receive in-app notifications through the bell icon in the header whenever there are updates relevant to you.

Is my personal data safe on Talem?

Talem uses industry-standard encryption and follows UAE data protection regulations. Running the platform needs a small number of named service providers, each bound by data-processing terms and listed in our Privacy Policy. We never sell or rent your personal information, and we do not pass your details to a school unless you asked us to contact it.

Talem is free for parents and students. There is no charge for browsing, comparing, or sending an enquiry, and Talem never takes a fee from a family.
