Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Health Administration

BScUndergraduateHealth Sciences

About This Programme

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Health Administration (PH-HA) provides students with an integrated understanding of public health and the organizational, managerial, and policy dimensions of healthcare systems. The program builds foundational knowledge in life sciences and public health while emphasizing specialized skills in planning, implementing, assessing, and evaluating health programs and services. Students study the structures and functions of healthcare systems, explore the determinants of population health, and analyze the causes and consequences of health disparities. The curriculum develops analytical and critical thinking skills needed to address the complex challenges faced by health organizations. Students gain experience in evaluating health services, applying evidence-based approaches, and designing solutions that comply with national and international standards. Ethical decision-making, legal and economic considerations, and societal factors are integrated throughout coursework to strengthen professional judgment. Training in communication and leadership equips students to work effectively both independently and in teams, preparing them for administrative and policy-focused roles.

Course Highlights

  • Specialized Knowledge in PH-HA Students gain a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education that bridges life sciences, public health, and health administration. The curriculum gives graduates an in-depth, field-ready understanding of how health organizations function and how population health is managed at both policy and operational levels.
  • Industrial Management Focus The program integrates organizational, managerial, and administrative principles. Students develop the leadership and operational competencies needed to manage healthcare institutions effectively in clinical, governmental, and community settings.
  • Hands-On Learning Learning extends well beyond the classroom through practical training embedded across the curriculum and a dedicated Internship in Health Administration. This placement experience puts students directly inside real healthcare organizations, where they apply their administrative, analytical, and public health skills to address genuine operational and managerial challenges.
  • Capstone Projects Students undertake an integrative capstone experience that requires them to design, conduct, and communicate original research. This prepares graduates to independently investigate complex health system challenges and propose evidence-based solutions relevant to real-world health administration contexts.
  • Global Relevance The curriculum is grounded in national and international standards, addressing both local and worldwide healthcare challenges. The program prepares graduates to operate effectively across regional and global healthcare environments.
  • Ethical, Legal, and Societal Considerations These considerations are woven throughout the program and reinforced through several courses. Students are trained to make decisions that are not only administratively sound but also equitable, transparent, and aligned with long-term public health responsibilities.
  • Flexible Electives Students tailor their degree toward their career interests and professional goals through a range of major electives, allowing them to align their degree with specific career interests in healthcare management, finance, or policy.
  • Faculty-Driven Research Opportunities Through courses such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Applied Research in Health Administration, students are trained in rigorous research methodologies under faculty guidance. This foundation enables students to engage in faculty-led research initiatives and contribute to the generation of evidence-based knowledge that advances health administration practice.
  • Entrepreneurial and Innovation Training Students are equipped with the innovation mindset and entrepreneurial skills to develop novel solutions and pursue impactful careers at the intersection of public health and healthcare management.
