Terms of Service
The terms and conditions that govern your use of the Talem platform.
Last Updated: 23 May 2026
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Talem EdHub Portal (“Talem”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), a business registered with the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By creating an account, accessing, or using the Talem website at talem.ae (the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
2. About Talem
Talem is a UAE-based platform that helps families discover, compare, and apply to nurseries, kindergartens, schools, and universities. We aggregate publicly available information about educational institutions, surface it through search and comparison tools, and forward enquiries and applications you submit to the institutions you choose.
We are not an educational institution. We do not admit, enrol, or accept students. Decisions on admission, enrolment, fees, and any other matter relating to a specific institution are made solely by that institution.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
Age requirements
- You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account on Talem.
- Children under 13 must not create their own account. A parent or legal guardian may create an account that contains data about a child under 13.
- Users aged 13 to 17 should have permission from a parent or legal guardian before creating an account.
- If you are creating an account or providing information on behalf of a child, you confirm that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian and that you have authority to do so.
Account types
Talem supports three types of accounts: parents, students, and institution representatives. Institution representative accounts require additional verification before access to institution-management features is granted. You may hold only one personal account at a time. You may not impersonate another person or institution, or misrepresent your affiliation with an institution.
Account security
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at security@talem.ae if you become aware of unauthorised access. The information you provide must be accurate, current, and complete.
4. Acceptable Use of the Platform
When using Talem you agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any purpose that violates UAE law, the law of your country of residence, or any other applicable law.
- Scrape, crawl, copy, harvest, or otherwise extract data from the Platform by automated means, except for search-engine indexing on routes we expressly allow.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Platform content in whole or substantial part.
- Interfere with the operation of the Platform — including by submitting malware, attempting to bypass security measures, overloading our infrastructure, or probing for vulnerabilities (except via a coordinated disclosure as described below).
- Use the Platform to send spam, marketing, or other unsolicited communications to other users or institutions.
- Impersonate any person, institution, or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with them.
- Collect or store personal information about other users without their explicit consent.
If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to security@talem.ae before disclosing it publicly. We will work in good faith to address the issue and will not pursue action against researchers who follow this process.
5. Reviews and User-Generated Content
Talem allows users to post reviews and other content about educational institutions. You retain ownership of the content you submit, but by submitting it you grant Talem a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and distribute that content on and in connection with the Platform.
Content standards
Reviews and other user content must:
- Be based on your own genuine, first-hand experience with the institution.
- Be honest, accurate, and written in good faith.
- Not contain defamation, threats, harassment, hate speech, sexual content, or content that incites violence.
- Not disclose personally identifying information about other people — including staff names beyond publicly available role titles, students’ names, contact details, or photographs that identify minors.
- Not promote commercial products or services, contain spam, or include affiliate or referral links.
- Not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
Moderation (notice-and-takedown)
We do not review every piece of user content before it is published. If you believe a review or other piece of user content violates these Terms, please report it to legal@talem.ae with a link or screenshot and a brief explanation of the issue. We will review reports promptly and remove content that violates these Terms; we may also remove or edit content at our discretion, with or without notice, to comply with the law or to protect users, institutions, or the integrity of the Platform.
6. Enquiries, Applications, and Institution Decisions
When you submit an enquiry or application through Talem, we forward the relevant information to the educational institution you selected. We do not control whether the institution responds, when it responds, what it offers, or whether it accepts an applicant. Once an enquiry or application is forwarded, the institution becomes an independent controller of the data it receives, and that institution’s own policies and processes apply.
You agree that Talem is not responsible for any institution’s admission decisions, fees, communications, conduct, or omissions. Any contractual relationship arising from an admission is solely between you and the institution.
7. Accuracy of Institution Information
Talem aggregates information about educational institutions from publicly available sources — including official regulator data (such as KHDA inspection reports), institution websites, public databases, and information provided to us by institutions themselves. We work to keep this information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that any specific piece of information is current, complete, or correct.
Before making any decision that depends on the accuracy of Platform information — for example, paying fees, accepting an offer, or relying on a deadline — you should verify the relevant facts directly with the institution. Talem is not liable for any loss arising from a decision made in reliance on information presented on the Platform.
8. Intellectual Property
Our content
The Talem brand, logos, source code, design, copy, images we have created or licensed, and the structured database of institutions we have assembled are owned by Talem or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use them outside the Platform without our prior written permission, except for normal browser caching, fair-dealing use, and search-engine indexing.
Institution names, logos, and trademarks
Names, logos, photographs, and trademarks of educational institutions displayed on Talem belong to the respective institutions. We display them for the purpose of factual reference, comparison, and informational use. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement, affiliation, or any other commercial relationship.
9. Reporting Copyright or Trademark Infringement
If you believe that content on Talem infringes your copyright or trademark rights, please send a takedown notice to legal@talem.ae including the following:
- A description of the protected work or trademark you claim has been infringed.
- The URL or specific location on Talem of the allegedly infringing content.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury (where applicable in your jurisdiction), that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on the rights holder’s behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will review valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to the offending material if appropriate. We may also notify the user who posted the content and provide them with a copy of your notice; please bear that in mind when including personal information. We reserve the right to suspend the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe third-party rights.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at /privacy. By using the Platform, you agree to the data practices described there.
11. Third-Party Services
The Platform integrates with third-party services — including Google (for optional sign-in), hCaptcha (for bot protection), Supabase (authentication and storage), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (analytics), and Sentry / BetterStack (error monitoring). When you use those features you may also be subject to those providers’ own terms and privacy policies. Talem is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services, or for any loss arising from your use of them.
The Platform may also link to institution websites and other third-party sites. We do not endorse those sites and are not responsible for their content, security, or practices.
12. Termination
You may close your Talem account at any time using the Danger Zone in your account settings, which initiates a permanent deletion of your data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may also stop using the Platform at any time without notice.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continued access would create a risk to Talem, our users, or third parties. We may also suspend portions of the Platform from time to time for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, and Contact — will continue to apply after your account is closed.
13. Disclaimers
The Platform and all content on it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Talem does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, free of viruses, or that any specific information or feature will be available at any given time.
We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, currency, or usefulness of any information about an educational institution. As noted in Section 7 (Accuracy of Institution Information), you should independently verify any information you intend to rely on.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under applicable UAE consumer protection law or under the consumer protection law of your country of residence where it applies to you.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Talem, its directors, employees, agents, and affiliates will not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of data, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Talem’s total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, will not exceed the greater of (a) AED 500, or (b) the total amount you have paid to Talem in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. As the Platform is currently provided free of charge, the practical cap is AED 500 unless paid services are added.
This section does not limit liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Talem and its directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your breach of these Terms or our Privacy Policy; (b) your misuse of the Platform; (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or (d) any content you submit to the Platform.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page shows when the most recent version took effect. For material changes — for example, a change to the limitation of liability or to the dispute-resolution process — we will notify you in advance by email and through a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Platform, are governed by the federal law of the United Arab Emirates and the law of the Emirate of Dubai. The competent courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
Before commencing any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us at legal@talem.ae and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter directly.
18. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: these Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and any documents they incorporate by reference) are the entire agreement between you and Talem regarding the Platform.
- Severability: if any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- No waiver: our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: you may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign or transfer our rights to a successor in interest.
- Headings: section headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
