Horizon International School (HIS) is a British curriculum school located in Umm Al Sheif, Jumeirah, Dubai, established in 2008. Part of the Cognita global schools group and sister school to Horizon English School, HIS serves over 1,385 students from 80+ nationalities across FS1 to Year 13. The school follows the English National Curriculum from EYFS through to A Levels, with IGCSEs and GCSEs at Key Stage 4. Led by Principal Stephen Quinn, who previously served as Vice Principal and Head of Primary for six years, HIS achieved a Very Good KHDA rating in 2023-2024 and an Outstanding BSO (British Schools Overseas) rating in November 2023. The campus in the heart of Jumeirah features two swimming pools including an eight-lane air-conditioned pool, a large Astroturf pitch, purpose-built sports hall, auditorium, multipurpose theatre, and specialist science, art, and music facilities. The school offers over 70 extracurricular activities including LAMDA, Duke of Edinburgh, F1 in Schools, and the EVOLV3 gifted programme. In 2024, GCSE results showed 53% at grades 9-7 and A Level students achieved a 100% pass rate with all securing first-choice university places.
