Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences is Dubai's dedicated medical university, named after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to award degrees on 15 December 2014, it teaches from Dubai Healthcare City through three colleges: the College of Medicine, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine, and the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery. MBRU is part of Dubai Health, the emirate's first integrated academic health system, which brings care, learning and discovery together across Dubai's public hospitals and clinics. That link is what shapes the teaching: students train inside working clinical services rather than alongside them, and the university runs a simulation centre whose venues reproduce an emergency department with its own ambulance bay, adult and paediatric intensive care units, operating rooms, maternity and medical wards, clinical consultation rooms and a surgical skills laboratory. The university holds full institutional accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation at the Low Risk, High Confidence level, and its programmes carry recognition from the ACCME, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Academy of Medical Educators, the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and the Arab Board of Health Specializations. Twenty-two programmes are published, from the six-year Doctor of Medicine and a four-year graduate-entry route into the same award, through a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with three entry pathways, five clinical dental master's degrees taught alongside practice at Dubai Dental Hospital, nursing clinical specialties at certificate, diploma and master's level, a master's and PhD in Biomedical Sciences, and health professions education qualifications. Scholarships are unusually substantial: a 100% award for a limited number of PhD students, an automatic 50% for every Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Master of Science in Nursing student, and needs-based support of up to 50% for medicine and dentistry.

Nursing clinical specialty fees are stored as the amount payable AFTER the automatic 50% Frontliner Scholarship, matching how MBRU presents them; the list prices are double. Dental master's fees are stored at the international rate, with the lower UAE and GCC national rate recorded on each programme row.

MBRU admits once a year, for an academic year that begins in the autumn, and each programme runs its own published timeline rather than a single university-wide deadline. Medicine is the most structured: applications for the 2026-27 intake opened on 13 October 2025 and closed on 9 January 2026, followed by an entrance examination in late January, Multiple Mini Interviews in mid-February, and conditional offers at the end of March. Selection for the MD therefore rests on academic results, an entrance examination and a structured interview, not on grades alone. Every published 2026-27 deadline across all programmes had passed by late August 2026, and MBRU had not yet published its 2027-28 dates.
MBRU accepts applications only through the online application form on its admissions portal. Every field must be completed as instructed, because inaccuracies can disqualify an application.
AED 1,000 plus AED 50 VAT, non-refundable, due when the application is submitted. The two point-of-care ultrasound certificates charge a lower AED 150 plus VAT.
An IELTS, TOEFL or EmSAT English result is required from every applicant regardless of the language of previous study. Degrees and school certificates need equivalency or recognition from the UAE Ministry of Education, whether obtained inside or outside the UAE.
Applicants to the Doctor of Medicine take an entrance examination; international applicants sit it online.
Shortlisted MD applicants are invited to Multiple Mini Interviews, a structured circuit of short scenario-based stations. Dental master's applicants are also assessed by MMI.
Conditional offers are followed by a non-refundable seat-reservation fee, AED 10,000 on most degree programmes, AED 5,000 on the health professions education awards and AED 3,000 on the nursing specialties. It counts towards the first-semester instalment for students who enrol.
MBRU runs a single annual intake aligned to its published academic calendar. All 2026-27 application deadlines had closed by late August 2026.

MBRU is located in Dubai Healthcare City and admits international students, whose entrance examination for the Doctor of Medicine is taken online. MBRU does not publish a standalone student visa fee schedule on its programme pages; visa arrangements are handled with admitted students directly.
MBRU's student body comprises 28 nationalities on a single campus in Dubai Healthcare City. The university states that what happens outside class matters as much as what is taught inside it, and runs clubs and activities spanning interests from literature to marathon running, alongside counselling and academic support.
MBRU does not operate a student residence of its own, but it does help students find one: the Student Services and Registration Department on the ground floor of Building 14 assists with both visa processes and accommodation in Dubai, and can be reached online or in person.
Career development runs through MBRU's clinical placements across Dubai Health and its Graduate Medical Education arm, which admits residents, fellows and interns and runs the pathway from undergraduate study into specialty training. Dubai Health sponsors cohorts of scholars into residency and fellowship training in North America. Students can travel to medical conferences and forums abroad and join the Summer Scholars Program, and networking events through the year bring local and international healthcare professionals onto campus to speak on their specialty. MBRU occupies Building 14 in Dubai Healthcare City, with its Finance Department in the Al Jalila Foundation Building nearby. The campus is built around teaching that mirrors clinical work. Its Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center reproduces a working hospital: an emergency department with three minor beds, two major bays, two resuscitation bays, a radiology unit with a CT scanner and an exclusive ambulance bay for MBRU's own ambulance; a six-bed intensive care unit with neonatal, paediatric and adult bays; two operating rooms, one with a high-fidelity mannequin that blinks, breathes and whose pupils react to light; a maternity ward with a SimMom simulator, neonatal resuscitation unit and incubator; a semi-private medical ward; twelve clinical consultation rooms used for Multiple Mini Interviews and OSCEs; and a surgical skills laboratory and anatomy dissection hall equipped for human tissue based training. Scenarios are relayed live to debriefing rooms, classrooms and auditoriums through the Scotia Medical Observation and Training System. Teaching space includes named lecture halls, nine tutorial rooms, two case method halls, a 70-seat computer laboratory and examination hall, and the Al Maktoum Medical Library, alongside the 337-seat Ahmed Seddiqi Conference Center and an 11,000 square foot atrium. Dental students train at Dubai Dental Hospital, and clinical placements run across Dubai Health's hospitals and clinics.
MBRU's simulation centre, whose venues reproduce a working hospital: an emergency department, intensive care, operating rooms, maternity and medical wards and clinical consultation rooms. Scenarios are run from adjacent control rooms and relayed live to debriefing rooms, classrooms and auditoriums through the Scotia Medical Observation and Training System (SMOTS).
Located within the basement of the centre, set up with three minor beds, two major bays and two resuscitation bays, with an exclusive ambulance bay where MBRU's own ambulance can be brought in to simulate handover from a pre-hospital to a hospital setting. An adjacent control room runs the scenarios and simulators through the instructor portal and can relay a live feed to the debriefing rooms, classrooms and auditoriums through SMOTS. The area is multifunctional and is used for disaster and mass casualty management training. A radiology unit with a CT scanner is also available. 2,600 square feet, 25 workshop seats.
Holds up to six patients and includes neonatal, pediatric and adult bays. It hosts a range of adult, pediatric and neonatal simulators of various fidelities, and equipment ranging from patient monitoring to crash carts and ventilators. Two adjacent control rooms overlook the ICU rooms to offer guidance and monitor the unit, and it is equipped with SMOTS. 968.75 square feet, six patient beds.
Fully equipped operating rooms designed to look as close as possible to real operating theatres. Operating Room 1 is set up with a high-fidelity simulator whose mannequin blinks, breathes, has pupils that react to light and responds to changes in the physiological modelling; Operating Room 2 is set up with the Drager OPERA system. 807.29 square feet, one operating table for 15 to 30 participants.
Can be configured to all birthing scenarios, from a first stage or labour room setup. It has a SimMom simulator where the baby can be delivered normally or by caesarean section, and abnormal labour and birthing difficulties can also be simulated. The maternity environment is equipped with a neonatal resuscitation unit, incubator and monitoring equipment, and with SMOTS. 312.15 square feet, one bed for 10 to 12 participants.
Designed to be similar to a hospital's semi-private wards, with mid-fidelity instructor-driven simulators. The simulators are wireless and have built-in compressors and batteries, so they can be removed from the environment and placed outside or on the floor without being attached to an air supply or electricity. Equipped with SMOTS, with control rooms adjacent. Approximately 600 square feet, two patient beds for 10 to 15 participants.
Twelve clinical consultation rooms designed to teach and assess health professional and patient encounters in small groups. They can also be configured for practical assessments and healthcare examinations such as Multiple Mini Interviews and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations. Rooms 1 to 5 have an audio and video capture system with real-time broadcast capability, and all rooms have Full HD displays. 226 to 430 square feet, 6 to 12 seats.
An anatomical laboratory suited to human tissue based training, seating 53 participants across 2,221 square feet. Two projection screens and ten ceiling-suspended display screens, one for each table, with wireless presentation and mobile mirroring, an interactive screen and an audio system, plus a complimentary meeting room accommodating up to eight people.
