About This Programme

MBRU's Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education is a one-year, blended programme designed to help busy healthcare professionals become strategic leaders and transformative educators, enhancing healthcare education within their clinical and academic practice. Its six courses, which MBRU says prioritise essential educational principles, are an introduction to health professions education and study skills, design and planning of learning, facilitating learning experiences in multiple settings, assessment of learning, an introduction to simulation-based education, and leadership and management in education. Teaching combines short, intensive on-campus blocks with live online sessions. In the course on facilitating learning experiences, assignments include developing a personal teaching philosophy, giving and receiving feedback with peers, and two experiential projects in which students facilitate a short teaching session. MBRU describes the diploma as suited to healthcare practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of health professions education while maintaining their clinical practice, and as a foundational step towards educational leadership without disrupting clinical commitments.
