4-year BEng (Hons) combining mechanical engineering fundamentals with specialised energy provision and utilisation focus. Designed for innovative challenges associated with energy systems, with management and environmental impact assessment integrated throughout. Year 1: Mechanics/Fields/Forces, Introduction to Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering in Context 1, Mathematics for Engineers and Scientists 1; Engineering in Context 2, Introduction to Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics 2 (optional Waves and Matter). Year 2: Mechatronics and Metaskills, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials A, Mathematics 3; Design and Manufacture 2, Introduction to Dynamics, Thermodynamics A, Mathematics 4. Year 3: Sustainable Development and Engineering Management, Design and Manufacture 3, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Incompressible Fluids, Mechanics of Materials B; Design and Manufacture 4, Vibration Analysis & Control Engineering, Thermodynamics B, Energy Studies. Detailed course guide As well as an individual research project, students undertake courses in Engineering Design and Engineering Manufacture (in partnership with industry) and Introduction to Petroleum Engineering. Students can also choose to be more specialised in their choice of engineering sciences by selecting from options in Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials and Machine Dynamics.

Entry Requirements
Accreditation & Professional Recognition
IMechE and Energy Institute This programme is accredited by both the IMechE and Energy Institute on behalf of the Engineering Council. Students completing an Engineering Council accredited degree are deemed to have met part or all of the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and are in a strong position to move on to achieve professional engineering status after a period of initial professional development in industry. The accredited BEng (Hons) will meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer and Students will need to complete an approved format of further learning pursuant to the requirements of UK-SPEC. MoHESR and UK Royal Charter This programme is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and also accredited and approved by the UK Royal Charter.
