About This Programme
One-year MSc Global Sustainability Engineering, interdisciplinary programme breaking down barriers between engineering disciplines to develop holistic sustainability solutions. Graduates work at the forefront of sustainable development, applying engineering knowledge to improve unsustainable processes. Structure: 6 mandatory courses (15 credits each) + 2 optional courses (15 credits each) + a 60-credit mandatory Dissertation Project. September entry mandatory: Process Engineering A, Climate Change Sustainability and Adaptation, Foundations of Energy, Sustainable Processing, Environmental Impact Assessment, Critical Analysis and Research Preparation. January entry: same mandatory courses arranged across different terms. Optional: Renewable Energy Technologies, Circular Economy, Carbon Solutions, Technology Futures and Business Strategy, Demand Management and Energy Storage, Green and Sustainable Logistics. Entry: a good relevant Honours degree (first or second class). Suitable backgrounds: chemical/process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental/civil engineering, marine engineering, aerospace engineering, energy generation. Chemistry/physics graduates with strong maths and coursework in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics also considered. Bachelor's must be attested through UAE Ministry of Education. IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5). September and January intakes. Full-time 1 year; part-time 2.5 years (4 semesters). Tuition AED 107,484/year full-time (incl. VAT) or AED 53,742/year part-time. The six mandatory courses develop critical understanding of the fundamental issues impacting global sustainability, whilst the selection of the two additional courses allows each student to tailor the degree to their own area of interest and potential career pathway, such as process engineering, building services and carbon management. In addition to eight 15-credit courses, students will complete a mandatory 60-credit dissertation project in order to graduate with a full MSc qualification.
