What You'll Study
Teaching is led by world-class academics, combining lectures, delivered on-campus and online live from the UK, alongside laboratory and computer-based practical’s. You will engage in small groups and reinforce your learning with tutorials, problem-based and feedback sessions. Seminar Online Live classes Laboratory-based practical’s: Experience practical work that is essential for your future career in biomedical science. E-learning: Benefit from access to Canvas, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Share thoughts on assignments with your peers, access learning materials 24 hours a day and to submit your work electronically. Lectures: Receive a first-class education experience with lectures delivered in our state-of-the-art lecture theatres, equipped with the latest technology to record and deliver interactive sessions face to face and with colleagues in the UK. Enquiry Based Learning: A group activity offering you the opportunity to take a research-orientated approach to a problem and helps you to gain essential skills that are highly valued by employers. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to meet with your personal tutor to see how you are getting on and if there are particular areas where you need support. Your personal tutor based in Dubai can help with any academic issues that you may encounter. Assessment Methods You will be assessed in a variety of ways to help you transition to a new style of learning. At the beginning of each module, you will be given information on how and when you will be assessed. You’ll receive feedback on each assessment within four weeks, so that you can learn from and build on what you have done. Foundation Year
As part of your Foundation Year, you will study the core introductory areas of biomedical sciences e.g. molecular and cellular biology, organic chemistry data and statistics for life sciences, advanced study skills in the biological sciences as well as academic English and study skills. These modules have been designed to provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge while supporting your English language and study skills, preparing you to move on to the next stage BSc Biomedical Sciences. We will ensure you are fully prepared to start your studies, immersing you in the University environment.

Year 1
Develop a detailed understanding of how the human body functions and what can go wrong in disease. The content extends from the single cell to the whole body. You’ll begin to learn about major pathologies such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, arthritis and diabetes, and the genetic basis of inherited disorders. Year 2
You will continue to build a strong foundation of knowledge in biomedical science. There will be an opportunity to specialise in a scientific area of your choice, linked to our College's major research themes. Begin specialising and deepening your knowledge in an area chosen by you, under the guidance of one of our subject experts. There is also the possibility of taking a year out to gain work experience, by securing a placement. Further options at the end of the second year are to enrol for the Year in Computer Science or the Year in Civic Leadership. Year 3
You will have the opportunity to select modules from a variety of options to specialise in a particular area of interest to you. You’ll learn about the latest findings within the field and be exposed to advanced research techniques, guided by internationally recognised experts. In the Spring term, you will focus on a substantial research project, which in the majority of cases is laboratory based specifically within one of our leading research active laboratories. You’ll work independently, under supervision, for ten weeks full-time on an original piece of research. In year two, I delivered a TEDx talk on ‘demystifying autoimmunity’, which deepened my fascination with immunology. This experience alongside the programme content, has prepared me for the next chapter in my academic journey - studying an MSc in Immunology at University of Birmingham, UK campus.
