Royal American School (formerly Al Maali International School) is a private co-educational American-curriculum school in Shabiya 12, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, established in 1996 as a villa school and housed in its current enclosed, purpose-built campus since 2009. It delivers a Common Core curriculum aligned to Oregon State Standards alongside MoE Arabic and Islamic Education from KG1 to Grade 12, leading to a US High School Diploma; classes are mixed from KG1 to Grade 4 and single-gender from Grade 5. Serving around 1,180 students across 56 classes and 68 classrooms, it is one of ADEK's biggest improvement stories, rising from Very Weak (2012-16) through Weak and Acceptable to Good at the 2021-22 Irtiqa inspection (February 2022), where all subjects were rated Good across all phases; the rating carries forward as the school has not been re-inspected since. With KG fees from AED 12,360 it is among the most affordable Good-rated American schools in Abu Dhabi.
