About Royal American School
Royal American School (formerly Al Maali International School) is a private co-educational American-curriculum school in Shabiya 12, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, licensed by ADEK from KG1 to Grade 12. The school says it opened as a villa school in 1996 and moved to its current premises in 2009, with all students on the new campus by 2010. It teaches to the Common Core State Standards in English and mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards in science, with Arabic for all students, Islamic Studies for Muslim students and UAE Social Studies and Moral Education, and offers Advanced Placement courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics (AB and BC) and Physics. Boys and girls are taught in mixed classes up to Grade 4 and in single-sex classes from Grade 5 to Grade 12. ADEK rated the school Good at its inspection of 7 to 10 February 2022, when every subject it judged was Good, and its register still lists that rating. The report counted 1,180 students and 46 teachers.

Kindergarten
KG1-KG2KG1 and KG2 in mixed classes, on a curriculum the school bases on the Common Core standards, with links to UAE culture and heritage.
Elementary
Grades 1-5Grades 1 to 5 on the Common Core, NGSS and MoE standards, with links to UAE culture and heritage. Classes are mixed up to Grade 4 and single-sex from Grade 5, NWEA MAP Growth tests run three times a year, and French starts in Grade 5.
Middle School
Grades 6-8Grades 6 to 8 in single-sex classes on the Common Core, NGSS and MoE standards, with a wider range of subjects to prepare for high school pathways. French continues to Grade 8.
High School
Grades 9-12Grades 9 to 12 in single-sex classes on the Common Core and NGSS standards, with Advanced Placement courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics (AB and BC) and Physics, and an Earth and Space Science programme aligned with the UAE National Space Programme.
