About This Programme

The combined accelerated BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering is a pathway to both the Bachelor and the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering for students with outstanding academic records. Accepted students become Accelerated Scholars, and through double-counted credits or course waivers they earn both degrees in less time and at lower cost, while still taking part in co-op, internships, research and study abroad. The typical course sequence on RIT Dubai's mechanical engineering page totals 150 credit hours over five years. It adds graduate courses such as Engineering Analysis and Advanced Engineering Mathematics, six graduate electives, a graduate seminar and a thesis alongside the undergraduate core and senior design. Students benefit from a 9-credit reduction and a shortened co-op, receive a 40% scholarship on graduate tuition once they reach graduate status, and move into graduate study without a separate application.

Course Highlights

  • 150 credit hours over five years in RIT Dubai's published BS/MS sequence
  • Guaranteed 40% scholarship on graduate tuition on reaching graduate status
  • 9-credit reduction and a shortened co-op
  • No separate application needed to move into graduate study
  • Enrolment needs a 90% overall secondary school average, and a cumulative GPA of 3.2 by the end of the second year
  • The BS in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission
  • Both component degrees, the BS and the MS in Mechanical Engineering, are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
