Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
About This Programme
Industrial Engineering suits students who enjoy both technology and working with people. Industrial engineers design, optimise and manage how products are made and distributed and how services are delivered in industries such as banking, healthcare, energy and entertainment. Many practitioners describe an industrial engineering education as the best of both worlds: engineering and business. The curriculum covers engineering economics and project management, facilities planning, human performance, mathematical and simulation modelling, production control, applied statistics and quality, and contemporary manufacturing processes. From the third year students choose the general degree or an option, and free and professional electives let them build breadth in areas such as advanced manufacturing, logistics, ergonomics, simulation and sustainable design. The five-year sequence includes co-op and a two-semester multidisciplinary senior design project.
Course Highlights
- Accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission since October 2019
- 129 credit hours over five years in RIT Dubai's typical course sequence, with co-op in the third and fourth years
- Fifth year includes 9 credit hours of professional electives and 9 of open electives
- Published course lists for the General Degree option and the Supply Chain Management option
- Programme labs: Industry 4.0 and Robotics Lab, Human Factors Lab, Research Center, Materials Science Lab and Mechanical Workshop
