About This Programme

Computing and Information Technologies prepares students to design, implement, operate and maintain computer networks and the computing systems attached to them. Students learn to evaluate existing networks and systems, suggest improvements, monitor them for faults and plan for growth, and RIT describes IT professionals as working on every phase of a solution, from conception and development to testing, deployment, security and management. The major aims to go deeper than a typical information systems or information technology programme by focusing on networks of all types and the full range of computing platforms that connect to them, supported by required cooperative education. Students choose two three-course concentrations from database applications, enterprise administration, human-centred computing, networking and communications, and web development, and selected students may propose a special topics concentration.

Course Highlights

  • 126 credit hours over four years in RIT Dubai's typical course sequence
  • Co-op or an undergraduate research experience (ISTE-499 or ISTE-498) in the second year, and co-op in the third year
  • Two three-course concentrations, 18 credit hours in total
  • Two-course senior development project (ISTE-500 and ISTE-501) in the fourth year
  • Programme labs: Computer Networking Lab, Computing Security Lab and TDRA-ICTFUND Digital Transformation Lab; student group: Machine Learning Society
  • Emirati nationals who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the ICT Fund's Betha Scholarship for this programme
  • Accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
