About Merryland International School
Merryland International School (MIS) is a private school in MBZ City, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, teaching the Cambridge International curriculum from KG1 to Grade 12 (FS2 to Year 13, ages 4 to 18). It opened in April 1978 as Merryland Kindergarten under its founder, Mrs Susheela George, moved to its purpose-built campus in Mussafah in 2010 and has offered Cambridge AS and A Levels since 2012. ADEK rated it Outstanding at its 2025-26 inspection, as it did in 2017-18 and 2022-23. Its students won 25 Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards in the June 2025 exams, and the school won the 2025 Zayed Sustainability Prize in the Global High Schools category for the Middle East and North Africa. Classes are co-educational from KG to Grade 4; from Grade 5 the school runs boys', girls' and mixed sections. The campus has a planetarium, a robotics lab, science laboratories, an indoor swimming pool and a multipurpose auditorium. The school does not run its own buses.

Kindergarten
KG1-KG2 (FS2-Year 1)KG1 and KG2 (FS2 and Year 1) follow the Cambridge Early Years curriculum, which replaced the Early Years Foundation Stage (ADEK, 2025-26). Children learn through play and structured phonics, and KG teachers are trained in the Letters and Sounds programme (ADEK's 2025-26 report). All KG class teachers and teaching assistants are women (the school's Coeducation Policy, 2026).
Cambridge Primary
Grades 1-6 (Years 2-7)Cambridge Primary runs from Grade 1 to Grade 6 (Years 2 to 7) and ends with the Cambridge Checkpoint exam in Year 7 (the school's 2026-27 parent handbook). GL Assessment tests in English, mathematics and science start in Grade 3, and Arabic, Islamic Education and UAE Social Studies follow the Ministry of Education curriculum. Classes are co-educational to Grade 4; from Grade 5 there are boys', girls' and mixed sections (the school's 2026 Coeducation Policy).
Cambridge Lower Secondary
Grades 7-8 (Years 8-9)Cambridge Lower Secondary covers Grades 7 and 8 (Years 8 and 9) and ends with the Cambridge Checkpoint exam in Year 9, ahead of the IGCSE years (the school's 2026-27 parent handbook). GL Assessment benchmark tests continue each year to Grade 9 (the school's 2025-26 assessment policy).
Cambridge IGCSE
Grades 9-10The two-year Cambridge IGCSE course in Grades 9 and 10 (Years 10 and 11): students take at least six compulsory subjects and may add up to three more, alongside Arabic-medium courses and PE (ADEK's 2025-26 report). In the June 2025 exams, Merryland students won Cambridge awards in IGCSE mathematics, business studies, English as a second language, chemistry, ICT and Arabic (the school's results post).
Cambridge AS & A Level
Grades 11-12Cambridge AS Levels in Grade 11 and A Levels in Grade 12 (Years 12 and 13), offered since September 2012 (the school's history page), with a Career and University Guidance department (ADEK's 2025-26 report). In the May/June 2025 exams, students earned A and A* grades in mathematics, further mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, business studies, economics, English and computer science (the school's results post).

Multipurpose Auditorium

Indoor Swimming Pool
A temperature-controlled indoor pool (the school's PE department page). Swimming is taught from KG: in mixed classes to Grade 4 and in boys' and girls' groups from Grade 5 (the school's 2026 Coeducation Policy).
