About This Programme

2-year Master of Architecture (MArch) blending architectural theory, sustainable design, urban design, and applied design practice. Informed by Heriot-Watt's Institute for Sustainable Built Environment (ISBE). Year 1: Design Project 1 (Sep), Urban Design for Health and Wellbeing, Urban Design Theory, Sustainable and Intelligent Buildings (Jan), Design Project 2, Research Methods. Year 2: Research Investigation (Sep), Design Thesis 1, Design Thesis 2 (Jan). Part-time variant distributed across 3 years. Learning outcomes: develop sustainable architectural designs, evaluate cultural and societal contexts, integrate aesthetic and functional principles, demonstrate climate literacy, communicate project outputs effectively. Entry: minimum 2:2 Honours degree (or equivalent international qualification); excellent design portfolio required; relevant industry experience considered. RIBA Part 1 holders welcomed but not mandatory. IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5, writing 6.0 minimum). September intake. Tuition AED 103,428/year full-time (incl. VAT), total AED 206,856; AED 51,714/year part-time. 90%+ graduates in graduate-level jobs or further study within six months. Programme Leader: Seda Zirek (Assistant Professor).

Entry Requirements

Academic: You should hold a minimum 2.2 Honours degree or an equivalent overseas qualification and an excellent design portfolio. Relevant industry experience will also be considered. In certain cases, you may be invited to attend an interview either virtually or in person. This programme attracts students in possession of the RIBA Part 1 but it is not necessary to have this to apply for the programme. Accreditation & Professional Recognition

We are currently seeking accreditation for this degree from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for Part 2. This programme is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom.
