4-year BSc (Hons) Computer Systems emphasising the construction of robust, usable computing systems with a stronger focus on hardware-software interactions, systems-level engineering, and professional workplace skills than the BSc Computer Science variant. Year 1: Introduction to Interaction Design, Praxis, Software Development 1/2, Introduction to Computer Systems, Web Design and Databases (optional Logic and Proof, Discrete Mathematics, Becoming a Professional). Year 2: User-Centred Experimental Design, Programming Languages, Data Structures and Algorithms, Web Programming, Database Management Systems, Introduction to Software Engineering (optional Operations Management, Hardware-Software Interface). Year 3: AI and Intelligent Agents, Data Communications and Networking, Knowledge Management, Software Engineering, Language Processors, Operating Systems & Concurrency, Professional Development, Sociotechnical and Soft Systems. Year 4 mandatory: Research Methods & Requirements Engineering (Sep), Design & Implementation, Project Testing and Presentation (Jan). Academic: Our entry criteria are listed below. However, please note that the final decision remains at the discretion of the course director after evaluating scores of individual relevant subjects. Students who are eligible to be admitted directly into second year can choose to join the first year, where available. GCE A-Level - CCC (or AABB at AS-Level) CBSE/Other Indian Boards - 65%. American High School Diploma/SABIS - 70% + SAT I - 1000 (500 English and 500 Math) Tawjihiyya - 80% or Elite/Advance - 75% International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 24 points (3 HL and 3 SL). The Computer Science Department has been delivering BCS-accredited programmes for more than 30 years. Our Computer Systems degree is accredited by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT on behalf of the Engineering Council, fully meeting the academic requirement for Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for a Chartered Engineer. It's also accredited by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT on behalf of the Science Council for the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Scientist. This programme is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom.
