4-year BSc (Hons) Data Sciences with a strong mathematical and statistical foundation combined with large-scale data computation using current programming languages. Year 1 mandatory: Software Development 1/2, Elements of Probability, Calculus A/B, Topics in Statistical Practice, Web Design and Databases (optional Logic and Proof). Year 2 mandatory: Real Analysis, Algorithmic and Scientific Programming, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics A/B, Multivariable Calculus, Introduction to Software Engineering, Database Management Systems. Year 3 mandatory: Statistical Models A/B, AI and Intelligent Agents, Further Statistical Methods, Software Engineering, Professional Development, Bayesian Inference & Computational Methods (optional Data Visualisation and Analytics). Year 4 mandatory: Dissertation A/B, Time Series and Machine Learning, Big Data Management, Advanced Machine Learning. Year 4 optional: Industrial Programming, Optimisation, Stochastic Processes, Statistics Special Topic. Final years focus on machine learning, statistical algorithms, software engineering, big data management, and AI applications. Distinct from BSc CS (Data Science), that variant is CS-based with a Year 4 data-science specialism; this BSc Data Sciences is a dedicated mathematical/statistical data science degree.
