GEMS Our Own Indian School (OIS) is one of the oldest and most established Indian curriculum schools in Dubai, offering CBSE education from KG 1 through Grade 12. Originally founded in 1991 as Varkey International Private School, the school relocated to its current purpose-built campus in Al Quoz 1 in 2002 and was renamed in 2012 as part of the GEMS Education network. The school serves approximately 3,666 students from diverse nationalities and is led by Principal Lalitha Suresh, who brings over 30 years of educational experience. OIS is known for its strong academic performance, with consistent CBSE board exam results and a dedicated STEAM programme delivered through two specialist labs. The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment guided by its vision of developing dynamic learners. It received a KHDA rating of Very Good for the 2023–2024 academic year, with Outstanding ratings in personal and social development, curriculum design, science achievement, and health and safety. Lalitha Suresh has led GEMS Our Own Indian School since January 2012, bringing over 30 years of experience in international and CBSE education. She holds a Physics degree, a Bachelor of Education from St. Teresa's Institute in Mumbai, and a Master's in Leadership and Educational Management from the University of Bath, UK. She has been identified by CBSE as a Lead Collaborator Principal and was nominated for the 11th International Women's Day Excellence Award.
