It focuses on topics such as genre analysis, text categorizations, text structure and texture, managing and monitoring in translation, Speech Act theory, standards of textuality, types of parallel corpora, and their applications into translation studies.

Program Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students should complete all graduation requirements: 1. Successful completion of all courses in the program study plan. 2. Passing the PhD Qualifying Examination. 3. Successful completion of the dissertation and passing the thesis examination. 4. Obtaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. A student can submit a dissertation proposal upon the successful passing of the Qualifying Examination. The student chooses a supervisor who accepts to supervise him or her on a topic of their mutual agreement. The proposal is similar to an academic paper in structure, but it is usually written with the intention to convince the examiners that it will produce a worthwhile thesis. Three examiners, other than the supervisor, evaluate the proposal. Only if they deem it good would they recommend that the student present it in public and defend it in the manner of a thesis defense. With the cooperation of the student supervisor, each candidate is required to publish at least two research paper extracted from his/her dissertation in Scopus-indexed journals.
