About This Programme
The MSc Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Birmingham Dubai prepares students to put ideas into action and shape socially and environmentally responsible business, whether by starting their own enterprise or driving innovation in existing organisations. Designed with industry experts from sustainable businesses, social enterprises and social entrepreneurs, it tackles issues such as the drive to net zero, carbon reduction, and equality, diversity and inclusion. It runs for one year full-time or two years part-time, taught by the triple-crown accredited Birmingham Business School. Students learn to weigh the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability and to implement sustainable innovations and business models, in a small, focused cohort. A central element is a sustainable entrepreneurial project aligned with each student's career aims, culminating in a 60-credit capstone developing a sustainable proposition or business model independently or with an early-stage venture, supported by University of Birmingham Elevate incubation and the Careers Network's B-Enterprising programme.

What You'll Study
Teaching uses lectures, seminars, interactive class discussions, presentations, simulations, case studies and workshops, with opportunities to collaborate and network with students and professionals from other disciplines. Assessment includes individual essays, group projects and group presentations. The Individual Capstone Project lets each student work on a sustainable venture, through an independent proposition or by developing a business model with an early-stage venture. The Programme Director is Dr Fiona Oster, who focuses on fostering responsible and impactful entrepreneurial thinking and a hub for student innovation.
Course modules
2026/27 session. 180 credits, all compulsory: six 20-credit modules, a 60-credit Individual Capstone Project and a zero-credit Business Bootcamp, which runs from 28 September to 1 October 2026, daily from 09:00 to 17:00, with a final session on Friday 2 October from 09:00 to 12:00.

AED 155,483 a year full-time or AED 77,742 a year part-time, for September 2026 entry. The fee covers tuition, examinations and graduation and is charged for each year of study, so part-time students pay it in both years; it can be paid in full or in instalments, and it does not include visa or living costs. Unlike most of the University's course pages, this one carries no closing notice for September 2026 entry and shows an Apply link. Applications are made online through the University of Birmingham Dubai Admissions portal, with no application fee; postgraduate applicants upload transcripts for study completed so far, their degree certificate if available, and a CV. Decisions are usually made within 10 working days of all documents arriving. A non-returnable AED 5,000 deposit, deducted from tuition, is paid on accepting an offer. Scholarships of up to 30% are assessed from the application itself, with no separate form, and full-time students can apply for a student visa sponsored by the University.
