The Japanese School in Abu Dhabi (アブダビ日本人学校, JSAD) is a private, co-educational school in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi, founded in 1978 to serve the Japanese expatriate community and recognised by Japan's Ministry of Education (MEXT) — the only authentic Japanese-curriculum school in the emirate. It follows the Japanese national curriculum across an attached Kindergarten, Elementary school (Grades 1-6) and Junior High school (Grades 7-9); there is no senior high school. Teaching is in Japanese, with English and Arabic also taught, and a strong emphasis on moral and character education (道徳). Since 2006 a cohort of Emirati students (around 30% of the roll) has been admitted under a programme supported by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince. A very small, high-touch school of around 80 students with an exceptionally low student-teacher ratio, it is rated Very Good by ADEK (Oct/Nov 2025), a rating sustained across cycles.
