About The Cambridge High School
The Cambridge High School is a British-curriculum school for boys and girls in Mohammed Bin Zayed City (Mussafah), Abu Dhabi, established in 1988 and part of GEMS Education. It follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum for England from FS2, then IGCSE in Years 10 and 11 and AS and A Levels in the Sixth Form, where a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology can be taken alongside or instead of A Levels. It is an examination centre for Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel and OxfordAQA. The school has a Primary School (FS2 to Year 6) and a Secondary School (Years 7 to 13). ADEK rated it Very Good at its May 2025 inspection, as in 2022, with Outstanding judgements in Cycle 3 for English, mathematics, science, learning skills and teaching; ADEK counted 1,769 students, 99 teachers and 29 teaching assistants, and the school says its students come from more than 45 countries. The campus has an indoor heated swimming pool, separate physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, four ICT labs, an auditorium and a multi-purpose court. Kim Teakle-May, Vice Principal from 2021, became Principal and CEO in 2025.

Tuition is the school's published 2026-2027 fee, which is also the figure on the copy of ADEK's 2026-2027 approval the school posts (13 May 2026), unchanged from 2025-2026. The version of that approval on ADEK's TAMM register adds AED 80 in Years 4 to 10, ADEK's standardised assessment fee, which ADEK includes in the tuition it approves for those years; the ADEK column shows that version. Neither ADEK nor the school publishes an all-in total.

Stages & pathways
Foundation Stage
FS2The Foundation Stage for Kindergarten children aged 4 to 5, child-centred and oriented towards practical application, social development and structured play, with regular educational visits. Arabic is taught as prescribed by the Ministry of Education. Classes are served by individual class libraries, the school library, computer laboratories, a music studio and a dedicated Kindergarten play area.
Primary
Years 1-6Years 1 to 6, organised as Lower Primary and Upper Primary, following the programmes of study of the National Curriculum for England against designated performance levels and attainment targets. A House System runs from Year 1, and after-school programmes in Years 4 to 6 offer drama, choir, computers, art and craft, cooking and sport.
Secondary
Years 7-11Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) follows the National Curriculum for England: English language, English literature, mathematics, history, geography, science and computer science, with art and design, PE, Arabic, Islamic Studies for Muslim students, personal and social education, Moral Education and UAE Social Studies; Year 9 sits the Check Point examinations as an internal monitoring exercise. Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) is the IGCSE course: eight subjects, with English and mathematics compulsory, examined mostly by Cambridge International, with some subjects from OxfordAQA and Pearson Edexcel.
Sixth Form (AS, A Level and BTEC)
Years 12-13AS Levels in Year 12 and A Levels in Year 13, mostly with Cambridge International (AS Psychology with OxfordAQA, A Level Fine Art with Pearson Edexcel), or the two-year BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology, which can be taken alone or with A Levels and counts as two A Levels. Students are expected to take four AS subjects and encouraged to continue at least three to A Level, with at least a grade B at IGCSE in each subject they continue (C for BTEC IT); an option runs only if at least ten students choose it, and students take at least three subjects, one from each option block.

Science Laboratories
Distinct and separate laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, spacious and equipped for practical work.
Four ICT Labs
Four ICT labs with high-speed internet. All classrooms have smart boards and multimedia projectors.
Junior and Senior Libraries
Two libraries, one for Junior and one for Senior students, with over 42,000 English-language titles and 35,000 Arabic books; ADEK's May 2025 inspection found the Junior library in use as a classroom and the Senior library as a staff workroom, limiting students' direct access. The school says its library has computers and internet for independent research.
Two Art Studios
Two art studios supporting a variety of creative activities.
Music Studio
A music studio equipped with keyboards, steel drums, percussion and wind instruments.
Auditorium
An extensive air-conditioned auditorium that doubles as a multi-purpose hall for assemblies and performances.

Principal / CEO
Kim Teakle-May joined The Cambridge High School in 2021 and became Principal in 2025, having served four years as the school's Vice Principal. Her career began in the United Kingdom in 2006 and she joined GEMS Education in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours), a Postgraduate Certificate in Mathematics and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
