Research doctorate at the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Full-time and part-time options. Research specialisations: Renewable Energy Technologies; Sensorless AC drive control and signal injection analysis; Distributed generation and smart grid impacts; Energy efficiency and demand-side management; Hybrid battery/supercapacitor energy storage; Hybrid concentrating photovoltaic/thermal systems for UAE buildings; Artificial intelligence and machine learning in energy. Supervision: primary supervisor based at Dubai Campus + second supervisor from Dubai, Edinburgh, or Malaysia. Research conducted independently with literature engagement and group discussions via electronic communications; approximately 6 months dedicated to thesis writing post-research. Entry: a good relevant Master's degree (first or upper second class) or equivalent overseas qualifications. IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0). Supporting documents: full academic transcripts and degree certificates, proof of funding/sponsorship, detailed research proposal (3-4 pages — topic introduction, research objectives/questions, relevant literature summary, methodology, theoretical framework, timetable, expected outcomes).
