Deutsche Internationale Schule Sharjah

Deutsche Internationale Schule Sharjah is a private co-educational German school in the Al Abar (Halwan) district, established in 1976 as the oldest German school in the UAE and run by a not-for-profit German school association. It delivers the German curriculum (based on the Thuringia syllabus) with trilingual instruction in German, English and Arabic from kindergarten, leading through the German lower-secondary and DSD language pathway to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Grades 11-12. A small, close-knit community of around 251 students with a student-teacher ratio of about 1:8, the school holds the "Excellent German School Abroad" (Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule) accreditation and is rated Good by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), improved from Acceptable in 2018.

Fees for 2026/2027, per year group. Excludes registration, uniform, and transport.
Tuition for 2026/27, published by the school in its own fee regulation and unchanged from 2025/26. The school prices in six bands rather than per year group: kindergarten AED 20,950, the preschool year 21,500, Grades 1 to 4 34,200, Grade 5 36,200, Grades 6 to 10 38,400, and the IB Diploma years 11 and 12 at 49,800. Tuition covers teaching and school textbooks; it excludes transport, uniform, examination fees, meals, workbooks, materials and school trips. A one-time admission fee of AED 2,000 applies, reduced to AED 500 for each additional child enrolling at the same time, and is not refunded even if the place is not taken up; an annual re-enrolment fee of AED 1,000 is charged each February and credited against the following year's tuition. A 3% discount applies to anyone paying in full before 30 June 2026. A sibling discount of 10% applies from the third child onward, so families with one or two children pay the full fee. Refundable book deposits are AED 400 in primary and 800 in secondary and the IB years, and consumable workbooks cost AED 50 to 575 by year group. Fees are due by the end of August, or in up to four post-dated cheques. Transport is run by an external operator at AED 6,400 to 9,000 a year depending on route and direction. Note that only the school's German-language page carries the current 2026/27 figures; its English and Arabic pages still serve older documents. The most recent fee approval Sharjah's regulator publishes for this school dates from 2023/24.
