The Australian International School (AIS) Sharjah is a private, co-educational Australian school on the Maliha-Kalba Road in Industrial Area 18, Sharjah. Established in 2005 as the first Australian-curriculum school in the Middle East — through a partnership with the Government of Queensland — it delivers the Australian Curriculum from the Early Learning Centre to Grade 12 and is recognised by the UAE as an Australian school outside Australia. In Grades 11-12 students choose the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), via an ATAR (university) or Applied route. AIS places wellbeing at the centre of school life through Professor Lea Waters' Visible Wellbeing framework, and is known for an award-winning library of more than 82,000 items. Rated Very Good by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), it serves around 1,478 students (school currently reports 1,700+), roughly 72% of them Emirati, across 60+ nationalities.
