GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail is a premium British curriculum school in Dubai Hills Estate, offering the National Curriculum for England from Early Childhood Centre (Nursery) through to A-Levels and BTECs in Year 13. Established in 2013 as part of the GEMS Education network, the school serves a diverse community of over 80 nationalities. Rated Very Good by KHDA with 15 of 24 key performance indicators rated Outstanding, the school is recognised for its exceptional academic achievement particularly in Mathematics, Science, and English. The school's three educational pillars — the Science of Learning, Social Enterprise and Innovation, and Student Agency — underpin all teaching and learning. Students benefit from elite sports programmes including the Wellington Performance Football Centre (WPFC), Hamilton Aquatics swimming partnership, and indoor tennis facilities. Stages & pathways

Early Childhood Centre (Nursery)

Nursery

Nurturing introduction to school life for the youngest learners. Play-based programme focusing on social and emotional development, communication skills, and early exploration of the world around them.

Foundation Stage (EYFS)

FS1–FS2

Follows the UK Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Building on nursery foundations with structured play, early literacy, numeracy, and creative exploration. Preparing children for the transition to Key Stage 1.

Key Stage 1

Years 1–2

National Curriculum for England with core academic subjects and specialist-taught foundation subjects. Students develop strong literacy and numeracy foundations alongside creative and physical education.

Key Stage 2

Years 3–6

Broader curriculum with STEAM integration and increasing academic depth. Students participate in residential field trips including multi-night experiences within the UAE. Strong emphasis on student agency and social enterprise projects.

Key Stage 3

Years 7–9

Full subject specialisation in the Secondary School with separate science disciplines. Access to STEAM laboratories and specialist facilities. Students begin to develop pathways towards GCSE options with careers guidance from Year 9.

Key Stage 4 — GCSE

Years 10–11

GCSE programme with compulsory core subjects and a wide range of option subjects. Students can also pursue the Wellington Performance Football Centre (WPFC) elite sports pathway alongside their academic studies. Comprehensive careers guidance provided.

Sixth Form — A-Levels & BTEC

Years 12–13

Students choose from A-Level and BTEC pathways, with the flexibility to combine both. Small class sizes with personalised university application support. Comprehensive UCAS, Common App, and worldwide university guidance.
